They had figured out how to pull themselves into a kneeling position not to long ago but a little over a week ago they both figured out how to stand and it has not stopped since then. They can pull themselves up on anything. Nothing is safe in this house.

Besides standing they have both figured out how to cruise and Aubrey is now being more adventurous when she hits corners of holding on with one hand to the gate and then using the other hand to reach for something and pulling herself over there. Talk about scary... I am thinking of asking my doctor for a script for xanax because I am afraid of what is to come in a few months.

Our nice, safe baby jail is not so safe anymore. We can't keep anything on the couch because they can reach everything on there and they are both trying to figure out how to climb onto the couch. Once they figure that out we are in big trouble. We had done light baby-proofing in the house because we had set up the baby jail and figured we had tons of time until the whole house needed to be baby-proofed but we learned this week that the baby jail isn't going to last as long as we thought it would. So now I am making lots of list of stuff to buy and more lists of what furniture needs to be moved out of certain rooms.

As scary as this all is, it has also turned our little tiny babies into babies with personalities. They babble to us and each other. Anthony calls for me and the other night when he woke up and had fussed a little, I was sitting in my room listening to the monitor to see if he was really up or just moving around and then he called out "Mum.......Mum" because I wasn't in there yet. Sweetest moment ever. Marc has become the fun parent. As soon as he enters the room the two of them get so happy and have insta-grins and start giggling. As scary as it is with them starting to become so much more mobile I am really loving this age.

I am Spent

After last night and today, I am spent. Today brought back all of those fuzzy memories from when Anthony & Aubrey were newborns.

We had big plans for today. The wonderful cleaning people were coming so I was planning on getting up at 5:30am so I could shower before Marc got up and showered. Then I was going to feed and dress the kids and then we were going to run lots of errand while the wonderful cleaning people cleaned my house. Well NONE of those things happened with the exception of feeding and dressing the babies. My out and about day was ruined before it even started.

Anthony had a rough night and woke me up almost every hour last night. He needed his binky and his mommy to rub his back for 10 minutes. I finally asked Marc to get up around 4:30 because I was so exhausted but he only wanted his mommy - and that is not an awe moment. So once 5:30 rolled around I was exhausted and took advantage of sleeping for a little longer which then turned into the babies waking up and no shower for me.

After the no shower, I figured we can still run all of our errands because I was looking forward to having the wonderful cleaning people come and make my house all nice and shiny - even if that meant embarrassing my children by being a stanky, grimy person while we did it. I mean I spent all day Thursday straightening up the house just so the wonderful cleaning people can come. So I fed the kids breakfast and finished up some last minute tidying because I don't want the wonderful cleaning people to think I am a slob. Then all hell broke loose.

Aubrey has been fussing really badly because her two top teeth are coming. Well today she took it the next level. After her bottle, I noticed she was unusually tired so I figured we could put our plans on hold for a little bit so she could get a small morning nap in. After I bring the babies upstairs and dress them I put Anthony in his crib so I can tend to Aubrey. Aubrey started to cry this cry that I have never heard before. You can tell it is a cry saying that she is in pain and she is now crying hysterically. She did this for over an hour. It was the saddest thing and I could do NOTHING to comfort her. Finally, I had to pin her down on the changing table and shove the orajel on her gums and then pry open her mouth and give her some tylenol. After this, she finally settled down about 30 minutes later and passed out. It really was so bad. I was waiting for her head to twist around (think Exorcist) because I have never experienced crying like that. As horrible as I felt, it took every ounce of patience that I didn't even know I had to try and console her.

So now you are probably thinking, well at least those wonderful cleaning people you keep mentioning are still coming by to make your house clean. Let me stop you there. I was so worried about Aubrey because she has never been like this before and I honestly was thinking she would wake up any minute and start crying like that again that I would either have to take her to the pediatrician or to the ER (remember, I am a first-time mom...I am allowed to freak out with thoughts like this) that I had to CANCEL the wonderful cleaning people. And the kicker is that they still CHARGED ME. Now I have to scrub my own house and they get paid for doing nothing. AND Aubrey woke up all smiles. They will now be referred to the not-so-wonderful-cleaning-people. I truly am spent.

9 Months

Yay for mommy & daddy surviving another month with Aubrey and Anthony! Both of their cribs are at the lowest position now. They both can sit, crawl and stand.

Personalities
Aubrey has really blossomed this month. She is still my serious one but she has started to laugh and smile so much more. She is turning into my photogenic baby and will put on a huge grin as soon as she sees a camera. I think she learned that from her cousin Kristin.
Anthony is still my mush. Cuddling, snuggling and laughing are still his most favorite things to do. And he always knows just what to do to put a smile on his parents face.

Favorites
Right now the two of them LOVE Yo Gabba Gabba. As soon as they hear the theme from the show and see DJ Lance, Muno, Foofa, Brobbie, Tutti or Plex they start smiling and bouncing. I thought I would be anti tv until they were at least 2 but we caught this show by accident one afternoon and they got so excited. So now we watch about 15 minutes of the show during each bottle - it's our guilty pleasure in life ;) Both of them love to play with Sulley. They love to stick their hands out of their crib or the baby jail and have Sulley come over and lick their fingers.

We also had our 9 Month Well Baby Visit and they are still huge!

Aubrey
Height: 28" (68th %)
Weight: 20lbs 2oz (74th %)
Head: 45cm (80th %)

Anthony
Height: 29" (76th %)
Weight: 21lbs 7oz (66th %)
Head: 44cm (16th %)

First Halloween

I love fall! Fall always means the start to the fun holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving and then that leads you into the winter for Christmas, New Years and now I can add the best day to celebrate in the winter which is Aubrey & Anthony's birthday.

I debated a lot about what the babies should be for their fist Halloween and went through so many ideas like Thing 1 & Thing 2, Nemo & Dory, Superman & Wonderwoman, etc... But in the end I had decided on Raggedy Ann & Raggedy Andy. I ordered the costumes and they were so cute but looked big for the size I ordered them in. Well I tried the costumes on them on Thursday and they hated them. They were trying to rip it off as I was putting it on and I couldn't even get a picture of the because they were trying to get it off so I then had to look for another costume on Friday, the day before Halloween. Luckily my Aunt had given me a duck costume and it fit both of them so I only needed to find another costume and found one for $6 at Children's Place. So my two ended up being a duck and a giraffe. Not exactly a cute twins theme BUT they looked adorable!

So yesterday as we were dressing them up, we decided to see about getting the Raggedy Ann & Raggedy Andy costumes to at least got a pic and they obliged us :) But between the hats and the oversized costume we knew they wouldn't be comfortable enough to stay in it for long and then we changed into our duck & giraffe and went off to the mall. They had such a great time at the mall. I think they enjoyed the attention more then looking at other kids costumes - that must be the Marc-sized ego in them ;) We hung out, had some lunch, did some shopping for winter coats for them and then came home and called it a day. Since we must have been gone during peak trick-or-treating time we didn't get any trick or treaters and nw I have a HUGE bowl of candy in my house which is not good! Overall a great first Halloween!

Almost Standing

My little girl is really so great at figuring things out. If you watch her, you can see her little mind working and paying attention to everything trying to figure out how things work. She is big on studying and paying close attention before ever doing something. Now Anthony will just jump right into something and try to figure it out as he does it. Sometimes we call Anthony "Aubrey's Guinea Pig" because he will try to do something and Aubrey will watch him fail at it a few times and then she does it perfectly. Because of this we rarely know when she is about to hit a milestone like rolling, sitting, etc...

Lately the two of them have been LOVING standing and holding onto things. They are starting to fuss now if I don't put them in the standing position or if I have to leave the room and do something like peeing because then they have to sit and play on their own for a few minutes. I have been trying to work with the two of them to show them ow to stand and trying to goat them into it by putting things like the remote, keys, & phones on the top of the couch to see if they can get up to it. Anthony has been trying like a mad man to get up but hasn't had any success yet. But in the corner is little missy watching intently. Then this weekend as they were playing with a toy Aubrey leaned on it and put herself onto her knees in a standing/praying position.

Yesterday as I was changing little guy or I should be saying wrestling with him to clean his little booty and get a diaper on, I look over at Aubrey and she pulls herself into the kneeling position and up pop's her little head. We have the mattress in the crib set to the middle setting and haven't gone to the lowest yet because neither can pull themselves up so I freaked when I saw this because she could easily lean over and fall out. I grabbed Anthony in one arm and then grabbed Aubrey out of the crib (it's not as easy as it sounds with two 20++ pound babies and only two arms). I then had to go back to wrestling Anthony with only one arm to get the diaper on and was holding Aubrey on my hip. People with only one baby have no clue what mom's of twins or more go through for simple things like trying to change a diaper...lol

So now my daughter can get herself up to her knee's and has been trying her damndest to get into a full standing position every opportunity she gets when she is on the floor in Baby Jail. And she is so close!! We have to wait until tomorrow when Marc is off of work to put the crib lower. So between now and tomorrow I am staring at the monitor during naps and at bedtime. Lord, I think I am gonna need a drink tonight.

Great Things About Having Twins

As hard as it is some days with juggling two babies who want the same things at the same times there are also so many great things that I enjoy by having twins. Such as...

- They truly LOVE each other. They are always looking for each other when they are playing or in a room. And once their eyes meet, instant smiles which leads to big giggles.
- They play peek a boo with each other in their cribs after naptime and when they wake up in the morning. I will walk into their rooms on some days and see one or the other popping their head up from their bumper and the other one cracking up at this.
- They learn from each other. Whatever one of them is doing the other HAS to do. Aubrey is now almost crawling and Anthony is trying so hard. Now that they are standing and holding on to things for support the other has to be standing too or they will start whining & crying.
- They can be so different, which is just what I need at times. Usually Anthony will be super cuddly and Aubrey will be showing her independent side by playing with something on her own. Then they will switch modes and Aubrey will come over to cuddle while Anthony goes off to start banging and beating up some poor helpless toy.

And the best part...
There is always one baby for me to cuddle with and one baby for Marc to cuddle with :)

I am sure when I go to post this next year, I may have different views and it may be more like begging for someone to help me with catching two toddlers running in different directions ;)

A little preview for Halloween

I am not telling what they will be but here is a little preview for Halloween...

Anthony
<img style="cursor: pointer; I had always thought that it would only take up a little more space or worse case, Marc would lose his office, a.k.a. Man Cave, and the rest of the house would stay intact. Boy was a I wrong.

Both Anthony and Aubrey were rolling from one side to the other in a few seconds and thus rolling into each other and beginning to pull each other's hair, bite each other's body parts and basically making each other cry (are you getting the picture of what is to come for me in a few years or even scarier to think about - their teen years and fights over the car keys). So I knew it was time to grow and I began my expansion. I really tried many options of putting it in different area's of the house - including the bathroom and kitchen - and trying to avoid the inevitable. Well the inevitable came to be and I have lost my living room.

Back before the babies were here, we had a beautiful 5-piece brown Italian leather sectional sofa, bought a big screen TV, had a sweet surround sound system hooked up, had an Xbox and Wii set-up with in our living room. Can you tell how much I love my living room. It was the one room I put a lot of love into and was a true reflection of Marc and I. The room was minimal with furniture but everything in there was of good quality. Well that room is gone. Now my couch is being used to hold piles of toys and is surrounded by gates that create Cell Block A&A. My TV which used to play all of the new releases now has either Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba (don't get me started on this show) or some other Nick Jr show on.

Hopefully this will help my husband realize how much we need to move into a bigger house - and if that is the case, Aubrey & Anthony will be getting a present from Mommy ;)

8 Months and Counting...

I want to start off by saying Happy 8 Months Aubrey & Anthony!! My fearless twosome celebrated turning 8 months on Monday, September 28th and are now working on turning 9 months. I can't believe how big my babies are getting and how much they have changed in the past few months.

My little girl has really been blossoming. Last time I posted, I listed all of the words she started to say. Well she also added the word UP to her vocabulary and is starting to grasp the meaning of up. If I ask her if she wants to come up, she will put her hands up to me and sometimes will mouth the word. She also made her greatest achievement last week - she called me MAMA. I kept walking in and out of the room because I wasn't sure if she did it intentionally but she did :)

Aubrey has also started a new habit of speaking very loudly. She yells and poor Anthony is not used to it so it upsets him and he starts to cry because he thinks she is upset. She has been turning into my tough girl and he has been turning into Mr. Sensitive. Because of this, don't think Anthony doesn't give her crap back. Their new thing is that when they are on the floor playing they have to be near each other. So Aubrey will start to pull his ear and they crack up at that and then she starts to touch his mouth which makes him bite down and the tears start to fall. I can say from experience that his little teeth are sharp and really hurt. I am happy they are not in daycare because we would be kicked out for him biting.

Anthony is turning into quite the momma's boy lately. He has started to get separation anxiety. He isn't so bad with it when Marc is home because he stops after a minute but if Marc isn't there to distract him he will keep crying and whining until I come back - no matter who is there. It may sound cute that your little boy wants you to be with him 24/7 but a girl's gotta pee some time ;)

My mush is also starting to get on all fours and rock back and forth but hasn't figured out how to move his hands and legs into a crawl. So now he will get up on all fours and rock and when I put a toy, or my phone, or the remote out of reach to entice him to go get it he quickly plops down and does his army crawl. It is like watching him swim on he floor...lol

Exciting Weekend

Anthony's Kisses
My little guy is super cuddly and loves to blow kisses. However Anthony has his own way of kissing and it is the cutest thing. Imagine yourself puckering up to give a kiss and then slip your tongue between your lips as you make the kissing motion/sound and this is what Anthony does. He is so cute about it because this huge grin crawls across his face right before he does it and he eyse light up as he watches for your reaction and he will give you about 5 kisses in a row before he starts laughing at the excitement. That is my sweet, little boy.

Aubrey's Exciting Weekend
So you know my little girl has just sprouted her first teeth and said her first word. Well she has done a bunch of firsts from this past Thursday - today. Let's recap...

Thursday - Said her first word...baba
Friday - Sprouted her first two teeth
Saturday - Said MAMA for the first time (I melted and Marc was in the room to confirm she said it)
Sunday Night - Around 10:30pm, she woke up and started moving all around her crib and was making these little cooing & moaning noises. I went in to check on her and she gets on all fours and starts rocking back and forth so I left her in her crib. I am then watching her on the monitor and in a matter of 30 seconds, she starts to CRAWL in her crib and then put herself in a SITTING position and then flopped back down on the bed. She has not crawled or got herself into a sitting position yet. I was in shock and Marc said I am in for an interesting week with her. I guess we really need to finish baby-proofing the house.
This Morning - She added some new words to her vocabulary. She said Mom :) And only said da (not dada) so we aren't counting that one until daddy hears dada.

My girl doesn't just do one thing she does a series of new things at one time.

Aubrey's Firsts

So this has been a great week for my little girl. Yesterday she said her first word - or sound... BaBa. So since yesterday she is saying baba non stop all day long. It is the cutest thing and I have been trying to show her the bottle everytime she says it. So far she thinks I am crazy.

For all those that know my little girl, they now she can be very stubborn and tight lipped. She rarely lets you feel her gums. I am constantly fighting her to get my finger in her tiny mouth to put the orajel in when she is teething badly. I have been joking that when she gets her first tooth, I won't know for at least a week because she won't let you feel her gums or look at them. Well yesterday I had felt her gums and nothing was there but today I felt not one but TWO teeth breaking through. My little girl has TWO TEETH. Her two bottom teeth are coming in and maybe one day we will see them because she still will not let you look at them.

Day in the Park

How sad is it that I JUST found a tiny little park that is 4 blocks from my house. Normally when I take the kids for a walk in our development, I always turn left at the end of the road. For some reason the other day I turned right and as soon as I turned the corner I found this tiny little park that has (2) baby swings, (2) big kid swings, a small jungle gym and a slide for bigger kids and for smaller kids. Plus the greatest part is that it is completely shaded with these huge trees all around it. The park is actually part of the next development but I'll just pretend that I am part of the development if confronted ;)

Marc and I had taken the babies on the swings during the summer at another park and they liked it but both of them were more interested in biting the swing and you can all imagine the gross factor involved in that. There was no amount of distraction we could to get them to stop trying to bite it so we kind of gave up on the park.

Well today, it was cloudy and cool out so I took them for a walk to the park and put them in the swings and they LOVED it. I happened to have Anthony's superman shirt on and you can see it as he is on the swing with a big ol' grin. I can't remember the last time I have seen Aubrey this excited and happy. She was full of smiles and cute little excited faces as I pushed her. After dealing with Anthony not sleeping well at night this week, I really needed this. This has brightened up my whole week and reminded me how lucky I am to be a stay at home mom to these two amazing little babies :)

Sleeping a.k.a. Lack of Sleep

I never thought I would miss the days of nighttime feedings. The greatest part of nighttime feedings was that they would both fall back asleep as soon as I put them in the crib. I got up no more then 2 times at night for 20 - 25 minutes each time and it was a piece of cake. I didn't heat up their bottles because they liked cold bottles and I would change them, feed them a bottle and put them back to bed in 20 minutes, per baby. I had no clue how great I had it then.

Fast forward to now...

Aubrey is a great sleeper. You put her down and she falls asleep and she might wake up once at night for her pacifier. She will easily sleep for 11.5 - 12 hours if Anthony doesn't bother her.

Anthony is a different child. The boy started out as the baby who could put himself to sleep first and was so easy when I did nighttime feedings until he hit 4 - 5 months. Then he started to wake up and want to play. Now he wakes up for AT LEAST an hour. At first it was due to teething and in all fairness, he broke 4 teeth in two weeks. Then it was because he kept wetting through his nighttime diapers so I have tried many diapers and many sizes and now have one that works for the most part. But lately he just wakes up for no reason. He just lies awake in his crib babbling VERY LOUDLY and fussing. Normally I could rub his back and he would fall asleep but that does not help at all. If I am lucky I can rock him to sleep but he will wake up the minute I put him back in the crib. I think I may start letting him cry it out. I have tried to before but it will be over an hour later and he is still awake in his crib.

Everyone keeps telling me to be happy that I have one good sleeper and to be thankful for that. I am thankful but people tend to forget that before she started to sleep through the night I got up double the amount of times that person with one baby did so I need to catch up on some sleep. Plus my son is so loud that he will wake up his sister at least 1 - 2 times a week in the middle of the night and trying to get 2 babies back to sleep is no fun.

If you have any advice on how to get my beautiful, smart, funny and cuddly little boy to sleep through the night please share.

I have to show at least one photo of each of my gorgeous babies

Little Miss Aubrey with a clip in her hair...I am very excited :) Her hair is now starting to get long enough to put a side velcro clip. He loves all electronics. Marc will have him on his lap while he is at the computer and Anthony's eyes start to glaze over right before he tries to pounce for the laptop. We did get to see Nonna for her birthday :)

Anthony's Update
My boy's vocabulary now includes:
- Hi
- Mama
- Mom
- Dada
- Nana

He also has learned how to wave hi - which also means gimme. We are working on it.

Today he cut his first tooth. It is his top tooth and the other 3 front teeth are coming in. Needless to say he has been on the cranky side at times but is always smiling and giggling.

Aubrey's Update
She just said her first word this morning. She said.....NO and she yelled it to. When I called Marc to tell him the exciting news, he said she must have gotten it from me yelling no at the dog all the time - thanks Marc.

My girl is ALWAYS on the move. She is rolling, creeping and doing her wounded soldier crawl. She is very resourceful and will push herself off a wall to get anywhere she needs to be. She is also trying very hard to get into a sitting position from being on the floor and she is so close to doing it.

Do to the babies being so mobile lately, we have been baby proofing the house. Marc has put things into all of the sockets and put protectors on any extension cords and such. And the most important thing we have done is set-up the Baby Jail. This has got to be the greatest thing because I couldn't put them on the activity mats anymore because they would roll right off and try to get under things. Now they have all of their toys in the jail and they can roll all over it. They have started to roll all over and I am now trying to figure out how to expand because they are going to need more space soon. Here is a pic...

6 Month Well Baby Visit

The babies had their 6 month well baby visit today at the pediatrician's office and they did great with their shots. This past week they have both had a lot of firsts...
- Anthony reached out to me to be held for the frist time
- Aubrey reached out to Marc to be held/hugged
- Aubrey said a-ma...almost saying mama
- Anthony said his FIRST.WORD. - HI
- Anthony has figured out how to make the kissing noise but it looks so funny because he puckers up and has his little tongue in the middle of his mouth to help him make the noise. He has no clue what he is doing but knows it makes mommy laugh

I am so amazed at how far these babies have come in 6 months and how far I have come. I am also in awe at what a different person I am because of these wonderful babies and how your whole world truly changes the second they each take their first breath. All of my worries and concerns seemed trivial till now and the only things that matter are their health and happiness - and one day sleeping through the night.

In six short months, two amazing babies were born - Aubrey Marie and Marcello Anthony, who we call Anthony. I still remember the day we found out we were pregnant, June 4th and the day we found out if was twins, June 13th and how clueless we were at what life would be like with two babies. Well here we are and my days now revolve around feeding, changing, playing, talking to, and hopefully getting in some nap time with these two. Marc and I have become a team and I can honestly say our marriage has become so much better because of it. We tried for so long to have these two and both love that we were blessed with two beautiful, funny, smart and healthy children.

A little bit about them...

Aubrey was born first - a whole two minutes before her brother. She was a little fussier as a newborn and we had an instant bond because of it. Since she was so fussy I was always the one to feed and burp her and I felt like we were team because of it. She is a very inquisitive baby. I love to watch her mind work as she stares at something and you can see all of the wheels moving in her head as she tries to figure out what is going on. She is very methodical and analytical and wants to understand how everything works. She also makes you work for each of her smiles and man do those smiles warm your heart up. Plus my girl loves to be on the go - she rolls all over the place, she has discovered how to creep. loves to stand and to move. She already has daddy wrapped around that tiny little pinky of hers.

Anthony is my mush. He was easy as a newborn and then discovered that Aubrey was getting a little more one on one time with Mommy and it was all over. He smiled first - a whole day before Aubrey and has not stopped smiling since. He mastered laughing and has the biggest belly laughs. You can't help but giggle with him because ha has such a huge personality. He is known to daddy as Giggles for all of his laughing. And the boy can talk. He loves to babble and has to be loud when he does it. You cannot ignore him because he is so loud. He is also quite the charmer. He will smile at anyone in a room and you can't help but smile back at him. He enjoys sitting down to play with his toys and the very first time we had Aubrey and Anthony sit down across from each other with some rings and other toys he took them from her. He adores his sister and will immediately smile when he is up close to her.
