Almost Standing

My little girl is really so great at figuring things out. If you watch her, you can see her little mind working and paying attention to everything trying to figure out how things work. She is big on studying and paying close attention before ever doing something. Now Anthony will just jump right into something and try to figure it out as he does it. Sometimes we call Anthony "Aubrey's Guinea Pig" because he will try to do something and Aubrey will watch him fail at it a few times and then she does it perfectly. Because of this we rarely know when she is about to hit a milestone like rolling, sitting, etc...

Lately the two of them have been LOVING standing and holding onto things. They are starting to fuss now if I don't put them in the standing position or if I have to leave the room and do something like peeing because then they have to sit and play on their own for a few minutes. I have been trying to work with the two of them to show them ow to stand and trying to goat them into it by putting things like the remote, keys, & phones on the top of the couch to see if they can get up to it. Anthony has been trying like a mad man to get up but hasn't had any success yet. But in the corner is little missy watching intently. Then this weekend as they were playing with a toy Aubrey leaned on it and put herself onto her knees in a standing/praying position.

Yesterday as I was changing little guy or I should be saying wrestling with him to clean his little booty and get a diaper on, I look over at Aubrey and she pulls herself into the kneeling position and up pop's her little head. We have the mattress in the crib set to the middle setting and haven't gone to the lowest yet because neither can pull themselves up so I freaked when I saw this because she could easily lean over and fall out. I grabbed Anthony in one arm and then grabbed Aubrey out of the crib (it's not as easy as it sounds with two 20++ pound babies and only two arms). I then had to go back to wrestling Anthony with only one arm to get the diaper on and was holding Aubrey on my hip. People with only one baby have no clue what mom's of twins or more go through for simple things like trying to change a diaper...lol

So now my daughter can get herself up to her knee's and has been trying her damndest to get into a full standing position every opportunity she gets when she is on the floor in Baby Jail. And she is so close!! We have to wait until tomorrow when Marc is off of work to put the crib lower. So between now and tomorrow I am staring at the monitor during naps and at bedtime. Lord, I think I am gonna need a drink tonight.

Expansion of Baby Jail

When we had created the baby jail, I had always known it would need to grow and get bigger as the twins became more mobile and adventurous. I had always thought that it would only take up a little more space or worse case, Marc would lose his office, a.k.a. Man Cave, and the rest of the house would stay intact. Boy was a I wrong.

Both Anthony and Aubrey were rolling from one side to the other in a few seconds and thus rolling into each other and beginning to pull each other's hair, bite each other's body parts and basically making each other cry (are you getting the picture of what is to come for me in a few years or even scarier to think about - their teen years and fights over the car keys). So I knew it was time to grow and I began my expansion. I really tried many options of putting it in different area's of the house - including the bathroom and kitchen - and trying to avoid the inevitable. Well the inevitable came to be and I have lost my living room.

Back before the babies were here, we had a beautiful 5-piece brown Italian leather sectional sofa, bought a big screen TV, had a sweet surround sound system hooked up, had an Xbox and Wii set-up with in our living room. Can you tell how much I love my living room. It was the one room I put a lot of love into and was a true reflection of Marc and I. The room was minimal with furniture but everything in there was of good quality. Well that room is gone. Now my couch is being used to hold piles of toys and is surrounded by gates that create Cell Block A&A. My TV which used to play all of the new releases now has either Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba (don't get me started on this show) or some other Nick Jr show on.

Hopefully this will help my husband realize how much we need to move into a bigger house - and if that is the case, Aubrey & Anthony will be getting a present from Mommy ;)

7 Month Update

Shame on me for taking so long to update...

First,

Happy 7 Months Anthony & Aubrey

Aubrey & Anthony have been learning so many new things and are now starting to interact with each other. August has been a hot month and for almost 2 weeks we were cooped up in the house for the most part. We did get to see Nonna for her birthday :)

Anthony's Update

My boy's vocabulary now includes:

- Hi
- Mama
- Mom
- Dada

- Nana

He also has learned how to wave hi - which also means gimme. We are working on it.

Today he cut his first tooth. It is his top tooth and the other 3 front teeth are coming in. Needless to say he has been on the cranky side at times but is always smiling and giggling.

Aubrey's Update

She just said her first word this morning. She said.....NO and she yelled it to. When I called Marc to tell him the exciting news, he said she must have gotten it from me yelling no at the dog all the time - thanks Marc.

My girl is ALWAYS on the move. She is rolling, creeping and doing her wounded soldier crawl. She is very resourceful and will push herself off a wall to get anywhere she needs to be. She is also trying very hard to get into a sitting position from being on the floor and she is so close to doing it.

Do to the babies being so mobile lately, we have been baby proofing the house. Marc has put things into all of the sockets and put protectors on any extension cords and such. And the most important thing we have done is set-up the Baby Jail. This has got to be the greatest thing because I couldn't put them on the activity mats anymore because they would roll right off and try to get under things. Now they have all of their toys in the jail and they can roll all over it. They have started to roll all over and I am now trying to figure out how to expand because they are going to need more space soon. Here is a pic...
